[Dual perspectives + two strong leads + mutual healing + older man and younger wife + multiple genres + mild angst + mind games]
A new take on The Return of the Swallows. Even if you've seen it, you won't guess what happens next. The characters' endings won't follow the original drama, and no one is portrayed as a villain. You can enjoy it even if you haven't watched the show.
Zhuang Hanyan × Yuwen Chang'an
A heroine who seems like a delicate innocent but is really a dark-hearted schemer × a gentle, refined NPC in a supporting role
Every NPC is the protagonist of their own story.
A note before reading:
An older man and a younger wife, with an age gap of at least 20 years. Proceed with caution if that's not for you! The story isn't limited to the inner household and covers many genres. Also, Yuwen Chang'an and the heroine's mother are just confidants.
If you're going to seek thrills, then go all the way. Maximum tension, so savor every moment.
Synopsis:
Seventeen years ago, rumors that Zhuang Hanyan was possessed by a barefoot ghost consigned her to the darkest corner of the Zhuang family genealogy.
Her cries hadn't stopped in the cradle when her grandfather died suddenly and her mother was left disabled. That night, the tracks of a cart carrying a baby stretched for a thousand miles, burying the name “ill-starred child” deep in Danzhou.
Seventeen years later, Zhuang Hanyan braves the wind and snow to stride through the vermilion gates of the Zhuang estate. Everyone thinks she's a vengeful demon returning home, but Yuwen Chang'an alone knows she's just a wounded fledgling coming back to her nest.
A single rumor binds the two of them together.
Yuwen Chang'an: “The gilded walls and embroidered curtains can't hold you back. I'll be the east wind that lifts you up. When you soar to the heavens, why ask whether the wind that rustles through the forest will carry you south to Jiangnan or north to the desert?”
But Zhuang Hanyan only smiles. “Did it never occur to you that the misunderstanding you believe in might be something I created on purpose?”
For the first seventeen years of her life, Zhuang Hanyan had nothing. Later, she saw endless possibilities. One courtyard and one wedding dress should not be the sum of her life.
Great, great. This CP pair is much better than the original drama. The heroine is really miserable.
The writing is very good and the details are well handled. It's great. The author must keep writing.
Nice! The writing is very good and the plot is smooth.
It's super good to watch. Even though I haven't watched the show, it doesn't affect the viewing experience. In fact, I personally like the setting of old husband and young wife. Yuwen and Han Yan are both very good people.
The author's writing is very good and the plot is exciting and smooth.
