The story takes place in the 19th century Wilder, an ancient city hit by the wave of industrialization. The St. Theodore Bell Tower in the city is like a vicissitudes of giant, overlooking the changes of the city. St. Theodore's Cathedral, where the bell tower is located, was once a spiritual sanctuary for believers, but now it is crumbling in the wind and rain of the times.
Surrounding the church are narrow and dark streets, inhabited by all kinds of lower-class people. In the factory area to the east, there are many chimneys and thick smoke. Workers toil in harsh conditions and struggle for meager wages. In sharp contrast, the wealthy areas to the west, with luxurious mansions and exquisite gardens, reflect the luxurious life of the nobles.
