**“You pawn your love, I suppress your obsessions. No redemptions.”**
Xu Qingyao runs a strange pawnshop in the CBD that opens at midnight, accepting only old objects steeped in obsession.
A Tang dynasty figurine dances in his palm, a Republican-era love letter turns into a rouge ghost, and even a Warring States bronze vessel delivered with takeout shouts that it needs reheating. After all, every antique in the pawnshop houses a spirit that has lived for thousands of years.
The newly hired college student, Xiang Yanzhi, is always getting into trouble:
He insists on adding pearls to the White Bone Lady’s Pu’er tea, splatters blood everywhere while restoring a cursed weapon and awakens a thousand-year-old vengeful spirit, and, most dangerously, keeps staring at the peach blossom-shaped curse mark below his boss’s collarbone and asking, “If this curse spreads to your heart, will you die?”
Then Xu Fu reappears in the world of the living with the Furnace of Immortality, and the past locked away in the rosewood cabinets begins to turn on them:
- The wedding wine left untouched on a moonlit night in the Qin dynasty, and the repairman who vanished in the flames of a Ming dynasty furnace
- The curse makes Xu Qingyao remember every time a lover forgets him, but beneath the blood moon, Xiang Yanzhi grips his icy hand: “Through two thousand cycles of reincarnation, I’ve come for you every time.”
When bronze dragons come alive on the eaves of the Forbidden City, and a graduation project becomes 108 clay figurines inhabited by spirits, the most dangerous item up for pawn is Xiang Yanzhi’s heart, offered with a smile: “I’ll pawn all my lifetimes to turn your white hair black again.”
