Story summary
Accidental time travel: 2,500 years ago, Lao Tzu mysteriously disappeared after writing the "Tao Te Ching" at Hangu Pass. His soul traveled through time and space and possessed Li Xiaoming, an 8-year-old boy in the 21st century, retaining all his memories and wisdom.
Identity confusion: After Li Xiaoming (Laozi) woke up, he found himself in a completely unfamiliar modern world. Facing electronic devices, high-rise buildings and strange "parents", he had to adapt to the saint's soul in this child's body.
Campus conflict: In school, Li Xiaoming attracted the attention of teachers and classmates with his wisdom beyond his years and classical words and deeds. He clashed with the school bully Zhang Qiang, but used Laozi's philosophy of "the weak overcomes the strong" to resolve the crisis.
Mysterious connection: Li Xiaoming meets Lin Xiaozhu, a transfer student who can see his "true body". She seems to be the reincarnation of Yin Xi, my former disciple, and a special connection is established between the two.
The dawn of his mission: Li Xiaoming began to think about the significance of his time traveling to modern times, and realized that this might be an opportunity given to him by God to re-disseminate Taoist ideas, especially in this era of material abundance but spiritual emptiness.
