Cultivators throughout the world fight over spiritual energy and seize opportunities, all to defy Heaven and become immortals.
Gu Chen was never on that path to begin with.
Because no one remembers him.
He walks among the people, but those he met yesterday treat him like a stranger the next moment. The things he says and does seem never to have happened. Without memories, he has no existence; without existence, how can he cultivate?
Until one day, he discovers that memories can be altered.
Using the power of the Record of Illusions, he begins to rewrite them.
And so, a person who never existed begins to weave an “existence” for himself.
He fabricates legends and creates miracles, making the people spread his name by word of mouth;
he rewrites history and changes cause and effect, until all under Heaven know his name.
When people begin to remember him, he gains power.
As his legends spread farther and farther, his cultivation surges with them.
But he soon discovers that the “history” of this world was never true to begin with.
The so-called Heavenly Dao is merely a “historian” recording the lives of all beings;
the so-called powerful are simply those whose stories have been written in the boldest strokes.
And he, this anomaly absent from the records,
is both a flaw and the only variable.
As the truth is gradually revealed, Gu Chen must make a choice:
become the new author, ruling over the memories of all beings,
or erase everything and let the world return to an unrecorded reality?
If all beings remember me, then I exist.
If no one remembers me, then I’ll make sure they have no choice but to remember.
