Cities are the board, and all living beings are pieces. But I’m going to flip the board and turn everything upside down, carving out a chance to survive.

“I’d like to ask you all to put on a little show.” Yan Si Jue poured the last cup of tea, pressed his fingers to the edge of the round table, and gave it a sharp spin. The dozen or so teacups at its center flew outward, each landing steadily in front of someone without spilling a drop.

The geniuses gathered around the table wore different expressions. They stayed silent, each lost in thought.

Chu Yong leaned forward slightly and tapped the table twice with his knuckles. The corner of his mouth lifted, his expression unreadable. “Why should I agree?”

Yan Si Jue calmly lowered his head and took a sip of tea. His eyes tilted upward, their gaze glinting. “Are you really content to be a pawn in his hands?”

“Heh. A pleasure doing business with you.”
