Ruan Xingyao is Mingde High School’s “basketball goddess,” but her grades leave much to be desired. Fu Yanshen is the school’s universally acknowledged “unattainable flower,” a top student who keeps everyone at a distance.
When they first meet, she stumbles straight into his world. Her friends tease that Fu Yanshen would never make an exception for anyone, so the competitive Ruan Xingyao resolves to make him cheer for her. She brings him a lunchbox, but he returns it. She shoots three-pointers when he passes the court, but he only gives her a cool glance.
No one knows that Fu Yanshen practices saying good morning to her late at night, overcomes his aversion to germs to bring her water after practice, and lets her touch his pen and leave it crooked.
Then, on a day of torrential rain, he chases her out of the airport on an injured leg, takes off his glasses, and confesses: “I was just afraid I wasn’t good enough for your sunshine.”
