Forensic scientist Du Yichen has eyes that can see through death, but he can't see through his own nightmares. When the seventh skeleton in a serial murder case is found in an abandoned funeral home, all the evidence points to the unsolved “Bone-Eating Case” from thirty years ago. Detective captain Gu Zijian forces the expert, who is so good at talking to corpses, onto the special investigations team, only for them to find Du Yichen's badge number carved into the inside of the victim's skull.
“Your fingerprints are on every bone.” Gu Zijian slammed the forensic report onto the dissection table. “Either you're the killer, or… you're the next specimen.”
The skeleton exhibit room suddenly loses power. Du Yichen's scalpel presses against Gu Zijian's carotid artery. “Captain Gu, why don't you ask how I know the layout of this funeral home so well?” In the darkness comes the click of bones being pieced together, and a nursery rhyme that should have stopped growing thirty years ago echoes through the ventilation ducts once more.
“When the bones begin to speak, the living must keep quiet.”
“They aren't corpses. They're unfinished works of art.”
