Forensic scientist Du Yichen has eyes that can see through death, but not his own nightmares. When the seventh skeleton in a serial murder case is found in an abandoned funeral home, all the evidence points to the unsolved "bone-eroding cold case" thirty years ago. Criminal investigation captain Gu Zijian forced this expert who was good at talking to corpses to join the special case team, but found Du Yichen's warning number engraved on the inside of the deceased's skull.
"Every bone has your fingerprints." Gu Zijian threw the identification report on the autopsy table. "Either you are the murderer, or - you are the next specimen."
When the power suddenly went out in the skeletal exhibition room, Du Yichen's scalpel pressed against Gu Zijian's carotid artery: "Why didn't Captain Gu ask why I am so familiar with the structure of the funeral home?" The click of bones being spliced was heard in the dark, and the nursery rhyme that should have stopped growing thirty years ago sounded again in the ventilation ducts.
"When the bones begin to speak, the living must shut up."
"They are not corpses, they are unfinished works of art."
