In 2075, the earth was split into two worlds, the inner and outer worlds due to the "Grey Fog Incident". The order of the outer world has collapsed, and the inner world ("Mirror Realm") is filled with unspeakable and strange creatures. A very small number of awakened people among humans can obtain superpowers through "sequence cards", at the cost of gradually becoming inhuman.
The protagonist Shen Yan, who was originally an ordinary forensic doctor, was involved in the "Mirror Realm" due to a bizarre autopsy case. He was forced to inherit the incomplete deck [Mortician] left by his late father. Its ability is "Anatomy of Death" - touching the corpse can recall the memory of 72 hours before death, but every time it is used, it will swallow up his own emotions. In order to find out the truth behind his father's disappearance, he joined the official organization "Eye of Ashes" and worked with teammates with different personalities (rebellious hackers, mysterious folklorists, and AI bionics) to deal with high-risk incidents:
