Zhao Kuangyin was a military strategist and politician from the Five Dynasties to the early Northern Song Dynasty, and the founding emperor of the Song Dynasty. He came from a family of military generals. He was proclaimed emperor during the Chenqiao Rebellion, founded the Song Dynasty, and was known as Song Taizu in history. During his reign, Zhao Kuangyin implemented a series of political and economic reforms, such as releasing military power over a glass of wine, weakening the power of Jiedushi, and strengthening centralization, which laid the foundation of the Song Dynasty for more than 300 years.
