In ancient times, the Fire God Zhu Rong and the Water God Gong Gong fought a great battle, breaking the four pillars that held up the sky at Mount Buzhou. The Heavenly Dao collapsed, and the divine race suffered enormous losses. Some gods had no choice but to reincarnate as humans to preserve their divinity, hoping to rebuild the Heavenly Court. Floods ravaged the human world, volcanoes erupted, and countless lives were lost. The demon race seized the opportunity to devour the gods and attack humanity. With no other choice, humanity joined forces with the surviving gods to create a passage for reincarnation. In the end, they wiped out the demon race at a tremendous cost and sealed them away. But the gods devoured by the demons gradually awakened their divinity and joined forces with the demon race, attempting to break the seal. To prevent this from happening, humanity established a special organization called the Demon Hunters.
Demon Hunters have a unique bloodline and are often part of hereditary families. The most powerful families each correspond to one of the Five Elements and the Eight Trigrams. Metal, wood, water, fire, and earth are the specialties of the different families, and each element is tied to its own cultivation method. In time, the Demon Hunters split into two branches: one responsible for hunting demons, and the other for guarding the seal, also known as the Tomb Keepers. After centuries of keeping the demons suppressed, the number of demonic beasts in the world dwindled, and the Demon Hunters gradually fell into decline. But for some unknown reason, demonic beasts have been appearing frequently in recent years, and the Demon Hunters have become busy once more.
The protagonists of this story are two brothers. One is the reincarnation of the Fire God, and the other the reincarnation of the Water God. Their divinity is incomplete, and they are named Lu Xunian and Lu Qingming. Their father is an ordinary Demon Hunter, while their mother is a Tomb Keeper, though neither knows the other’s identity. When Lu Qingming was young, their mother was suddenly killed in a fire, and their father began hunting demons. One day, their father disappeared, and the two brothers began hunting demons.
