I rubbed my sore eyes. The blue light from the computer screen was particularly dazzling in the dim office. The clock showed that it was already 11:45 pm, and the company was already deserted. Only my lone desk lamp was still on.
"The seventh draft has been revised again..." I sighed and dragged the latest revision comments sent by the designer into the folder. Zhou Xiaoyu, 25 years old, is a graphic designer and lives a 9-to-9 life. My fingers were tapping mechanically on the keyboard, but the customer's critical face kept popping up in my mind.
"This LOGO is not grand enough."
"Can the colors be more lively?"
"We want a high-end feel, not a cheap feel."
Every word struck me like a knife on my already exhausted nerves. I reached into the drawer, took out a box of Skittles and poured it into my mouth - a habit I have when I'm stressed out at work. The sweet taste spreads in the mouth, but it can't calm the irritability in the heart.
I turned off the computer and walked towards the subway station with heavy steps. The city is still brightly lit late at night, but those lights have nothing to do with me. The theme song of "My Little Pony" was playing on a loop in my headphones, which was one of my few comforts. This animation has been my spiritual haven since college.
"It would be great if there really was a place like Little Mary..." I looked at the billboards passing quickly outside the subway window, which were promotional posters for a certain mobile game. They were so colorful that they were eye-catching.
When I got home, I didn't even bother to change my clothes and just collapsed on the bed. On my bedside table is my collectible Rainbow Dash figurine, with her rainbow-colored mane.
Good-looking and good-looking.
