"Huayuankou" is a TV series that takes the dike digging incident at Huayuankou in Zhengzhou as the starting point and reflects the theme of the Henan people's anti-Japanese struggle.
According to historical records, the Japanese invaders invaded 110 counties and cities in Henan during the eight-year Anti-Japanese War. The digging of dikes at Huayuankou resulted in the deaths of 890,000 people in the area, nearly 4 million people displaced, and hungry and cold. However, the people of Henan never surrendered in the face of powerful enemies. In critical moments, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, many glorious battles and respectable heroes emerged against the Japanese aggressors, which are enough to shine in the annals of history.
However, there are very few film and television works that reflect the Henan people's anti-Japanese struggle! What people are familiar with are "tunnel warfare", "mine warfare", "Xiaobing Zhangga" and "plain guerrillas" that took place in other provinces. In fact, just from the few battle cases and heroes described in this drama based on historical records, their legendary, visual and shocking power is no less than that of the above-mentioned film and television works.
Although the Henan Provincial People's Government erected a monument on August 28, 1997 to comprehensively elaborate on the Huayuankou Incident and the Henan people's struggle against the enemy, the propaganda intensity needs to be improved.
When our creative staff conducted research, many young people even doubted: "People from Henan have also fought against Japan?"
This is a great regret for the 96 million people in Henan.
Things change quickly with a snap of a finger. However, the lofty patriotism spirit and creative brilliance burst out by the Henan people in those special years should not fade away with the passage of time.
