The eastern market of Chang’an was packed with people. On the day the top scorer rode through the streets, Seventh Uncle of the Bai family untied the jade pendant at his waist. “Tell my niece that I earned this honor to clear the way for her.” Sui Sui had just been born that year, and from then on the whole family doted on her.
This is the story of three generations of an illustrious clan. The eldest branch carries on the family line, dignified and steady; the second branch preserves its literary tradition, refined and scholarly; the third branch serves in the military, bold and valiant. One passes the palace exam at the top of the list, then resigns to open a school. Another places third, then leaves the capital to travel. One ventures alone to the border for the sake of a single military dispatch. Another spends a lifetime planting fruit seeds, but never sees one sprout. Yet no matter how far they go, the old locust tree is always there.
Over the course of her life, Sui Sui writes The Sights and Stories of Chang’an, recording Seventh Uncle’s letters, little Ling’s sword, Niannian’s sweets, Grandmother’s words, and Great-grandmother’s laughter. “Blessings aren’t meant for one person alone. They belong to the whole family.”
This is a story about roots and wings. Family is your roots, a place to return to no matter how far you fly; it is also your wings, carrying you toward a sky of your own.
May Sui Sui know no trouble, and may Chang’an flourish year after year.
A home filled with everyday warmth and blessings.
Thank you for your patience in reading this story. There are inevitably regrets in life, but I just want to create a gentle and pure land without regrets for the years I write about. The tenderness of every year is never alone. The happiness she considers is never that she is perfect, but that the people she cares about can be safe and smooth, and everyone can be happy. Just like my great-grandmother said: Blessings are never enjoyed by one person, but by the whole family. I'm glad you understood this tenderness and warmth. May we be able to be with the people we love in reality, and live our lives happily, steadily and satisfactorily.
I've finished reading it. Although the narrative method is not the usual one and the content is repeated in every chapter, the story is very gentle. It is a good story. Everyone is nice, Nian Nian, who cares about his younger siblings, Nien Nian, a taciturn and considerate top student, Ling Ling, who doesn't like to talk and appears cool, Zhi Zhi, who is lively and cheerful, Uncle Qi, who is free and easy and loves freedom. Even though he loves his life, he and Ms. Yang, although it is a pity, they both love themselves, it doesn't matter whether they are right or wrong. Everyone in this story is living a good life This is what I envy but yearn for. Everyone should live a good life and see more nature.
The full text is long and flowing, a gentle book, there is no intrigue, the family supports each other, it is very interesting to read! Everyone was very happy, and I was surprised to see male-male cp. I usually don't read books about male-male cp. I skipped through this part of the book. Personally, I think this book is perfect except for this point.
It's pretty good, a bland little piece of writing.
The trickle of water moves me so much. I am so happy. Sometimes I cry inexplicably just watching it.
