"The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" (also known as "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms", "The Popular Romance of the Three Kingdoms" [45-46] "The First Book of Talents") [58]) is a long chapter-length historical romance novel created by the novelist Luo Guanzhong in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties through artistic processing based on Chen Shou's "Three Kingdoms" and Pei Songzhi's annotations as well as folk tales of the Three Kingdoms. Together with "Journey to the West", "Water Margin" and "Dream of Red Mansions", it is also known as the four classic Chinese classics.
