I'm Just a Mortal, but the System Wants Me to Kill the Empress from the Start

I’d just been forced to kill the heavily wounded empress, and hadn’t even had time to savor the System rewards, a [Chaos Spirit Root] and [Ninth Level of Qi Refining] cultivation, when the Fate-Hunting System blared another alert: [Warning! The target is not completely dead. Her remnant soul has escaped!] [New main quest issued: It’s better to make allies than enemies!] [Quest objective: Find the reborn empress, Shi Xue, and… become her cultivation partner within ten days!] [Quest failure: Host’s soul will be annihilated!] Lin Xian: “???” What kind of international joke is this?! I’m just a little cultivator who’s just killed my enemy (though I was forced to). Now I’m supposed to marry a Tribulation Transcendence big shot (reborn edition), an expert with maxed-out experience who wants to grind my bones to dust? System, are you sure you’re not just trying to get me killed faster?! “Fate-Hunting! Are you messing with me? First you tell me to kill her, and now you want me to marry her? Are you malfunctioning?!” Lin Xian was so furious he nearly jumped. Pointing at the glowing screen, he yelled, “Aren’t you the Fate-Hunting System? Since when did your services expand to matchmaking? And you’re seriously trying to pair me up with my enemy?!” Looking at his dwindling Fate-Hunting Points and the reborn empress, whose whereabouts were unknown and who could recover her powers and come for his life at any moment, Lin Xian felt his scalp prickle. This isn’t becoming cultivation partners. It’s walking straight to my death! Wait... after being reborn, she’s currently just a [mortal with a useless spirit root]? Hm? Maybe there’s... an opportunity here?
