After successfully saving the forest once, Briar, Bramble, and Logger Vick thought they could finally enjoy a peaceful life. But a mysterious force from the depths of the unknown once again disrupted the calm.
One day, a strange space-time vortex suddenly appeared in the forest. Its powerful pull swept the unsuspecting Briar, Bramble, Logger Vick, and several small animals inside. When they came to after being tossed about in a dizzying whirl, they found themselves aboard a massive interstellar battleship. It was controlled by a race of machines from a distant galaxy, who roamed the universe collecting energy cores from different planets to ensure their own kind could survive. For some reason, however, their System malfunctioned and mistakenly identified the planet inhabited by the forest animals as a source of energy to harvest.
To make matters worse, the battleship's energy core was closely tied to the fate of the animals' forest. If the machines acquired enough energy, the forest would vanish forever into the dust of the universe. To stop this from happening, the animals must work with Ava, the machines' intelligent core: a female-presenting robot with a kind, self-aware mind. Together, they must search for scattered space-time repair devices across a tangled network of interstellar routes.
Their first destination is a scorching planet wrapped in liquid metal. The metal droplets there seem almost alive, constantly chasing anyone who trespasses. Briar relies on his courage to carve a path for his companions across the blistering ground. Bramble draws on his love of food and fearlessness to search for clues in the perilous surroundings.
