[Apocalypse + Impostors + Mystery] I stockpiled three years' worth of supplies from the start, but then the knocks at my door began, one after another.
In 2045, the orange-red sky blazed with heat, and surface temperatures soared past the lethal threshold. The authorities touted the Ark Project, promising to shelter humanity underground, but a mysterious post exposed the truth: “The sun is ‘it,’ waking up. Underground is where the graves are!”
Lin Mo had seen it coming. He hadn't squandered the compensation money his parents left him. Instead, he turned a detached house on the outskirts into a steel-plated fortress: blast-resistant glass and alloy panels, triple-stage air filtration, solar and diesel power, and a basement packed with three years' worth of canned food, medicine, and growing racks. While everyone else fought tooth and nail for a place in the underground city, he had already prepared a survival ark of his own.
The midnight alarm tore through the sky. Sunlight turned into flesh-eating acid, blistering anyone caught beneath it. Worse, survivors mutated into emotionless “impostors” with a taste for raw flesh. The city fell completely, and Lin Mo's fortress was the only one still lit. The shortwave radio echoed with desperate screams.
He thought he was the safest person alive, until three muffled knocks sounded from beyond the heavy alloy door.
Was it a human clinging to life? An impostor baring its fangs? Or something sent by “it”?
