During the Republic of China, wars were raging, but Liyuanxing was still a recreational place for dignitaries. There are two major theater troupes in the capital that are the most famous. One is the "Qinghe Troupe", which is famous for its Laosheng profession. The troupe leader Lin Hetang is both moral and artistic and dedicated to inheriting the art of Peking Opera; the second is the "Jinhua Troupe" which attracts audiences by Huadan opera. The troupe leader Zhao Chongwu is good at dancing and maneuvers among the powerful for personal gain. Behind this seemingly prosperous opera garden, there is a competition between various forces. The actors can't help themselves, and if they are not careful, they will fall into a point of no return.
