In the last years of the Western Jin Dynasty, China was in chaos, the imperial court collapsed, corpses were everywhere, and all living beings were in ruins. Zhang Gui, a Confucian scholar in Liangzhou, asked the imperial court to be appointed the governor of Liangzhou and to be released back to his hometown. Zhang Gui appeases one party, protects the court, protects the common people, and serves the country until his death.
