Pushkin in the Barn

In 1978, Chen Zhiyuan, an educated youth who went to the countryside, and Lin Xiaomei, a rural girl, met in an abandoned barn due to a heavy rain. The seeds of their love were planted in the resonance of literature and music. The notice to return to the city broke the nascent love between the two, and Chen Zhiyuan was forced to leave, leaving behind unfinished promises and a copy of "Pushkin's Poems" as a token. Five years later, Chen Zhiyuan, who had become a factory technician, ran into Lin Xiaomei in a movie theater who came to the city for medical treatment. He discovered that he had brought their illegitimate daughter Xiaoyu with him, but had concealed the child's life experience. When Chen Zhiyuan faced the choice between career and love, Lin Xiaomei did not want to be a burden to him and chose to leave. The two staged a heart-rending farewell at the train station. Lin Xiaomei died of illness, and Chen Zhiyuan finally learned the truth but it was too late. He could only read poems in front of the grave, leaving eternal regret.
