Waking Up on the Road to Exile

Qiu Min was having dinner with her family when, for some reason, Mu Yi kicked her to the floor. Her head struck the table, and she bled profusely. When Qiu Min opened her eyes again, she was lying in a bed in the emergency room. She looked at the man beside her and asked, "Why?" He didn't answer. Qiu Min asked him, "Do you know where I went during that time?" The man trembled and said, "I don't know. You've been lying here, twitching. I've been watching over you the whole time. I don't know where you went." Qiu Min told Mu Yi, "I went to the underworld. The underworld told me all your secrets. It said you've been sleeping with lame Wang next door, giving him all our savings, and even handing over your entire salary. Why? There's something else I need to tell you. Believe it if you want, or don't. The King of Hell gave me a protective charm. No, he gave me a whole set of protective-charm rules and a jade pendant." Qiu Min raised her left hand. A beautiful jade bangle had appeared on her wrist. She felt her chest and found a large jade pendant hanging there, exquisitely carved. I looked at Qiu Min's bangle and pendant too. That's right: when we arrived, she hadn't been wearing any of these things. She'd only had a necklace and a gold ring. How had these suddenly appeared? Had she really gone to the underworld? Qiu Min told us, "The King of Hell gave me these protective charms. You'd better watch yourself."
