The story begins with An Jing living as a drifter in Country Y. Ling Lan, who was in Country Y on a business trip, found her and brought her back to the country.
An Jing had once been deeply depressed. After finally escaping her "home" in Country Y, she wandered alone through its streets and alleys. She nearly failed to survive the winter, but luckily Ling Lan happened to pass by and rescued her. From then on, seeds of gratitude and infatuation took root in An Jing's heart.
Unfortunately, Ling Lan initially saw An Jing as nothing more than a pawn. She looked just like the woman he hated most. Yet that woman was also the one his mortal enemy, Lin Subai, was most infatuated with.
Ling Lan told An Jing to get close to Lin Subai. Sure enough, the moment Lin Subai saw what An Jing looked like, he took the bait and began pursuing her. Meanwhile, Ling Lan kept using his charm to entangle An Jing, making her wholeheartedly work for him while also trapping himself in a conflict of love and hate he couldn't escape.
As the conspiracies and truths gradually came to light, Lin Subai had already fallen completely under An Jing's spell. An Jing, caught between her target, Lin Subai, and her savior, Ling Lan, gradually lost her way.
She began to wonder whether everything she did was really just to repay Ling Lan. Her guilt toward Lin Subai and her infatuation with Ling Lan left her increasingly unsure of what she wanted.
Just then, An Jing's "family" from Country Y suddenly arrived, making the whole situation even more complicated...
