Qin Su runs an antiques shop called Wanhaoxuan in Miaoyin City, and occasionally reads people's fortunes. It was a skill her aunt, Yin Zilan, taught her personally before she went missing. Yin Zilan left behind a note with just six words: Don't look for me. Don't call the police.
Qin Su didn't look for her. Instead, she stuck with her childhood friend Cheng Wangbai, who freeloaded at her shop.
Later, she pulled a three-inch-long black needle out of a rich kid named He Jin. From then on, he refused to leave her side. The two began encountering strange things: a coffin dressed in wedding clothes in an abandoned village, paper figures pasted to windows that killed anyone who saw them, and an old opera stage rising from the riverbed. Each incident was like a rope pulling Qin Su in the same direction.
In a cave full of bone flutes, she found Yin Zilan, along with a gaunt old man.
The returned Yin Zilan seemed perfectly normal. She looked the same, and there was no problem with their blood relationship. But Qin Su couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
Before she could ask, Yin Zilan disappeared again. This time, Qin Su wouldn't listen to anyone. With He Jin and the old man, she followed the clues until she learned the whole truth at a haunted opera stage.
The sign for Wanhaoxuan still hangs over an old street in Miaoyin City. Before leaving, Qin Su glanced back. The three characters on the sign had been worn blurry by wind and rain.
She ferries the living and restrains the dead. But the one she must ferry in the end may be herself.
This book is not long yet, but it has captured the most attractive flavor of folklore and supernatural beings. I am very optimistic about the heroine Qin Su and the setting of the three-person team. The story sets the stage in villages, towns and countryside. Those old sayings and folk taboos that have been circulated for a long time have just revealed the tip of the iceberg, and the atmosphere has been laid in place. The characters currently on the stage are not templated, and the interaction of the three-person team is the biggest highlight for me. There aren't many thrilling big scenes yet, but it can be seen that the author is slowly laying out the lines and laying the groundwork. The most taboo thing about supernatural stories is too fast pace and hasty unraveling of the mystery. Now this kind of slowly unfolding feeling is just right. The story has just begun, and there is still a lot of room for development. I hope that in the future, the past and abilities of each member of the team can be gradually improved, and the cases will be combined with real folk customs to dig deeper into obsessions and cause and effect. I look forward to the author's continued updates and stay tuned for this book!
I just finished reading the opening chapter, and [Love] really likes folklore and supernatural stories. The story is not in a hurry to throw out scary scenes, but slowly builds the atmosphere through old rural customs and rumors passed down from generation to generation in the village, making it very immersive to read. The interaction between the protagonist Qin Su and his team mates is very natural, there is no forced conflict, and the characters are vivid and not stereotyped. There are a lot of foreshadowings hidden between the lines, casual chats, ancient local taboos, there are hidden clues if you read carefully. The curtain of the story has just been opened, the mystery has not yet been fully revealed, and the dull and strange atmosphere of local ghost stories has already been filled. Looking forward to further digging into the stories and relationships behind the legend, and waiting for updates from the author
I just finished reading the opening chapter of this book, a rare new work on folklore and supernatural beings. The story does not start with a lot of thrillers, but slowly adds to the atmosphere by using old customs passed down by word of mouth in the countryside. The team formed by the protagonist Qin Su and two other partners is the biggest highlight of the story. The relationship between the characters is not deliberately passionate, and the details of the interactions are real and natural. It can be felt that the author is carefully laying the groundwork. Many seemingly casual conversations and local rumors may be foreshadowing future events. Although the story has just begun and many mysteries have not yet been solved, the unique depressive atmosphere of local legends and monsters has already been established. I hope that in the future we can delve deeper into the human relationships behind folk tales, and look forward to the author's continued updates.
It is a very authentic folklore and supernatural drama that does not include thrilling scenes, but relies on rural rumors to slowly heighten the eerie atmosphere. The interaction between Qin Su's team is natural and comfortable. There is a lot of foreshadowing in the article. The depressing feeling of the local ghost story is very good. I look forward to subsequent updates ❤️ ❤️
