Excerpt 1
Lin Wei opened her eyes in dizziness, and the mottled earth wall and the light and shadow of the kerosene lamp came into her sight.
She sat up like an electric shock, her rough hands and the whitish patched blue shirt on her body screamed abnormality. This was not the Simmons she should be lying down after her promotion celebration banquet.
"Xiaowei, are you awake? Are you up? You have to work in the fields today!" The wooden door was knocked loudly.
Strange memories came flooding back: Hongqi Village in 1970, a sick mother and young brother, half an acre of thin farmland.
Excerpt 2
After hearing this, Peng Aiguo frowned and looked at her suspiciously: "Xiaowei, how come you, a girl, know how to drive a tractor? This is no joke."
Lin Wei smiled and said firmly: "Village Chief, I can really drive. If you don't believe it, I can try it on the spot."
The village chief was dubious, but seeing her firm attitude, he thought it would be okay if she gave it a try, otherwise he would have to borrow technicians from other villages to teach.
She climbed into the driver's seat deftly, adjusted the seat, and started the engine.
"Rumble--" The tractor made a low roar, and the surrounding villagers were startled and took a few steps back.
Lin Wei held the steering wheel, gently stepped on the accelerator, and the tractor slowly moved forward.
She drove the tractor steadily and circled around the open space at the entrance of the village with skillful movements.
The villagers were stunned, and even Peng Aiguo couldn't help but nod: "Xiaowei, you really know how to drive!"

This is the first ordinary novel I've read. So far, it's okay. The characters are well drawn, but the updates are a bit slow.
