[Pocket Dimension + Farming + Warm and Peaceful + Everyday Life]
Excerpt 1
Lin Wei opens her eyes through the dizziness. Mottled earthen walls and the flickering light of an oil lamp fill her vision.
She sits bolt upright as if electrocuted. Her rough hands and the faded, patched blue cotton jacket she is wearing both scream that something is wrong. This is certainly not the bed she should be lying in after a promotion celebration.
“Xiaowei, are you awake? Get up, it’s time to work in the fields!” The wooden door rattles under a series of knocks.
Unfamiliar memories come flooding in: Hongqi Village in 1970, a sick mother, a little brother, and half a mu of poor farmland.
Excerpt 2
Peng Aiguo frowns and looks at her suspiciously. “Xiaowei, you’re a young woman. How do you know how to drive a tractor? This isn’t something to fool around with.”
Lin Wei smiles, her tone firm. “Village chief, I really can drive. If you don’t believe me, I can show you right now.”
The village chief is doubtful, but seeing how determined she is, he figures there’s no harm in letting her try. Otherwise, they would have to borrow a technician from another village to teach them.
She climbs into the driver’s seat with practiced ease, adjusts it, and starts the engine.
“Rumble, rumble!” The tractor lets out a deep roar, startling the villagers nearby and making them retreat a few steps.
Lin Wei grips the steering wheel and gently presses the accelerator. The tractor slowly rolls forward.
She drives it steadily around the open ground at the village entrance, handling it with skill.
The villagers stare in astonishment. Even Peng Aiguo can’t help nodding. “Xiaowei, you really can drive!”
This is the first ordinary novel I've read. So far, it's okay. The characters are well drawn, but the updates are a bit slow.
