After Ten Years as a Hitting Partner, I Have the National Table Tennis Database

Lin Xiaoran has spent ten years quietly working as a shadow sparring partner for the national table tennis team. She has no dazzling accolades and has never heard applause on the court, yet she has trained ten world champions through countless days and nights, learning their signature techniques and mastering their instincts. She is the team’s “database,” yet no one has ever noticed her. Then, at an international tournament, China’s top players lose one after another. Down 0–3 against Japan, the team faces unprecedented disgrace. At the last moment, Lin Xiaoran is called upon in a crisis and steps onto the court for the final, where she faces Japan’s ace, Yamamoto Ayaka.

On the court, she is no longer in the background. She is a blade. She tears through the defense with Zhang Yuhan’s “Whirlwind Counterloop,” answers provocation with Li Meng’s “Arc-Line Kill,” then brings out Liu Fang’s “Phantom Chop” to defeat her opponent. Ten years of sweat and hard work become the flames of a desperate comeback. She not only restores the national team’s honor, but proves that she matters. From an unsung hero behind the scenes to an undefeated legend on the court, Lin Xiaoran writes a thrilling story with her paddle.

This is a story of perseverance, turning the tables, and glory. After ten years as a sparring partner, she is more than just a shadow: she is the sharpest sword in Chinese table tennis.
