Introduction to The Yellow Springs Guide
In a seemingly ordinary modern society, the delicate balance between the worlds of yin and yang is in fact roiled by hidden currents. Supernatural phenomena lurk quietly in the dark corners of the city. The legendary Yellow Springs Guide bears the sacred duty of traveling between the worlds of yin and yang, maintaining order between them, and preventing evil spirits from wreaking havoc among the living. Yet this ancient tradition is gradually fading in the modern age.
The protagonist of this book, Chen Yu, is an ordinary college student leading an uneventful life. While exploring his school's old library, he accidentally awakens an ancient seal and releases an evil spirit. Just as his life hangs by a thread, a mysterious old man appears and drives the spirit away. He tells Chen Yu that, because of his unusual constitution, he is destined to become involved in matters of yin and yang, and is the ideal successor to the Yellow Springs Guide's mission.
From then on, Chen Yu follows the old man on a perilous and mysterious journey. They travel far and wide, resolving all kinds of supernatural incidents: an abandoned vengeful infant spirit causes traffic accidents at an intersection to take revenge on humanity, while the vengeful spirit of a nurse who died unjustly plunges an abandoned hospital into endless night... Along the way, Chen Yu meets Lin Xiao, a brave and clever girl who is just as fascinated by supernatural phenomena, and encounters a mysterious organization intent on breaking the boundary between yin and yang, releasing the evil spirits of the Yellow Springs, and ruling the world. What will they do...?
