Nine Realms: Heaven-Swallowing Art

Across the boundless expanse of heaven and earth lie nine distinct worlds, each independent yet connected to the others.

Among the Nine Realms, Heaven above is the home of the gods, full of mystery and majesty. The Realm of Law embodies law and order; Buddhism represents compassion and wisdom; and Daoism upholds the principles of nature and the Way. Below lie the Demon Realm, home to all manner of monsters; the Ghost Realm, where the dead and spirits reside; the Domain of Demons, steeped in darkness and evil; and the Netherworld, the borderland between life and death.

Yet of all these worlds, the Human Realm has the largest population and the most expansive lands.

Tens of millions of years ago, in what people call the ancient age, an unprecedented prehistoric calamity suddenly struck. No one knows exactly what happened, but it brought immense disaster to all nine realms. To resist it, the realm lords, rulers, and heavenly gods of every world rose to fight the calamity in a desperate struggle.

But the calamity was so ferocious that even the mighty realm lords and heavenly gods could hardly withstand it. In the end, only a handful of the realm lords, rulers, and heavenly gods survived the brutal battle. Much precious historical material and cultural heritage was lost as well, leaving a break in the historical record.

Time passed, and tens of millions of years went by. Of the Nine Realms, only the Human Realm remained.

In this era, a young man named Gu Yuanzhou sets out on a challenging journey. He grows through trial after trial, all in search of the truth behind the forgotten history.
