This novel describes the social changes experienced by a family in Huining County on the Huangtu Plateau from the 1980s to the present. The protagonist Zhao Xuansheng was born in 1980. After graduating from college in 2000, he went to a township in Huining County to get married and have a son and a daughter. He participated in the poverty alleviation work in the county and led the township people out of the mountains. This is a touching story.
