The Spirit Hairpin and the Subdued Python

Qingping Village was a peaceful little settlement, surrounded by mountains. Its people had farmed for generations and lived tranquil lives. Sixteen-year-old Ruoxue was kindhearted and beloved by the villagers. She was always helping them cure illnesses and solve their problems.

But one stormy night, a deafening crash shattered the peace. The next morning, the villagers found their livestock had mysteriously vanished, leaving behind winding, snake-like tracks as large as washbasins. They realized that a giant python was responsible. The python continued to attack, and the villagers failed in every attempt to capture it. Fear blanketed the village, and everyone lived in constant dread.

One night, Ruoxue dreamed of a white-haired old woman who cultivated on Kunlun Mountain. The woman told her that a cave atop the mountain behind the village held a jeweled hairpin left behind by Nuwa when she mended the sky. It could subdue demons, but to claim it, Ruoxue would have to brave three trials: a treacherous mountain path, a white tiger guarding the way, and a poisonous spider blocking her route. Only someone with an unwavering spirit and a pure heart could succeed. Determined to save her fellow villagers, Ruoxue resolutely set out on her adventure. She packed a few simple things and, with the whole village's hopes and blessings, headed toward the towering mountain. The road ahead was dangerous and unknown, but her resolve to save the village never wavered.
