This work takes the recovery of the Sixteen Prefectures of Yanyun as the story, and uses the national and personal levels as the basis for description. At the national level, through the efforts and actions of the Song Dynasty court to regain Yan Yun; at the personal level, through the love story between Gao Chong and Bai Yun, a girl from the Liao Kingdom. In the end, Gao Chong shot Bai Ming to death, but was blocked by Bai Haotian, and ultimately failed to achieve the tragedy of "lovers finally getting married." In the end, the inability to regain Yanyun led to a double tragedy for the country and the individual. As a result, the sixteen states of Yanyun were unable to return to the embrace of the Central Plains Dynasty, which became a pain in the hearts of successive Central Plains dynasties.
