Flowers Bloom in the Mud

Born in the 1980s on the outskirts of Yunnan, the siblings Luo Xiaokun, Luo Xiaohong, Luo Xiaofang, and Luo Xiaohua endure hardship, struggle, grow, and transform amid the pain of their family life. Though born into the same family, their different upbringings and personalities set them on different paths. The eldest, Luo Xiaokun, is steady by nature. After graduating from primary school, she ventures out into the world, working as a nanny and a hairdresser before marrying and having a child, then opening her own beauty salon. Luo Xiaohong, the only boy in the family, is mischievous from childhood and goes astray. With his parents’ help, he later has a child, but dies in middle age. Luo Xiaofang suffers from being overlooked, marries and has a child at a young age, then loses her husband and drifts through life. The youngest, Luo Xiaohua, is lucky enough to receive a high school scholarship, allowing her to attend high school and get into college. But her parents refuse to support her, so after graduating, she works hard to repay her tuition and breaks completely with her son-preferring parents.

The hardships of life cannot destroy us. With a heart set on moving forward, even in the mud, we can bloom.
