A vermilion mark was naturally etched between his brows, yet it made the Futu Pagoda tremble and the Mirror Lake hang upside down. He was even prophesied to bring the calamity that would "sever Heaven's laws." When the Demonic Cult attacked and slaughtered the temple, he fled with a burning fragment of the Lankavatara Sutra on his back, and in doing so glimpsed the greatest secret of the Three Realms:
The so-called gods and Buddhas are merely puppets who steal the faith of mortals; the so-called path of cultivation is nothing but a shackle imposed by the Heavenly Dao to imprison all living beings.
From the bronze coffins of the Buddhist kingdom in the Western Wastes to the sunken Mohist warship in the depths of the Dark Sea; from the bamboo records of history falsified by the Confucian Palace of Letters to the human furnace beneath the Divine Church's Tower to the Heavens... Wunian smashes through the lies of the twelve heavenly steps and burns the false scriptures with tribulation fire, grasping the true "Dao" amid the ruins:
