Shan Huahua was born on the vast grasslands of Inner Mongolia. She lost both her parents when she was young, but she is strong-willed and determined to make her own way. She studied hard, not only earning a place at university but also going on to pursue a doctorate. She could have found a very good job in the city, but she could never stop thinking of the folks back home who had cared for her. In the end, she returned to her hometown and used her ingenuity to lead the villagers in transforming a poor mountain ravine into a land of flowers and fruit. They modernized both animal husbandry and agriculture, and their Cherry Valley became a tourist destination, earning a 5A rating from the National Tourism Administration. The village was also designated by the national agriculture authorities as a model village for building a new socialist countryside!
