[Two female leads + apocalypse]
Jiang Jiu • Blood-Red Tyrant
As she crushes the ninth traitor’s skull, her fingertips caress the undergarment she stole and hid from Jiang Yao. Her mad possessiveness is wrapped in deadly tenderness. The more out of control she becomes, the more devastatingly beautiful her smile grows.
Jiang Yao • Sweet Blade Rose
A poisoned jar of honey, she smiles sweetly, dimples showing, as she strikes with the deadliest of knives. She heals countless people, yet deliberately keeps the scar on the back of her hand. She says, “I’ve long forgotten that heartless woman,” yet keeps a zombie parrot that imitates Jiang Jiu’s voice. In a near-death hallucination, she offers her the knife: “Stab me here. That’s more your style.”
As civilization becomes a gluttonous feast for zombies, they are the apocalypse’s most perfect weapons: one uses royal power to imprison her true feelings, while the other uses eternal life to nurture a lie.
“Congratulations, Your Majesty. This is your 999th substitute this month.” A guard presents a young woman who looks just like Jiang Yao. Jiang Jiu snaps the girl’s neck and chuckles. “A counterfeit doesn’t deserve her dimples.”
“Your Majesty, this is Ms. Jiang Yao’s eighth attempt on your life.” A guard presents a severed finger stained with blue blood. Jiang Jiu turns it into a necklace and chuckles. “She’s finally learned to use the knife the way I taught her.”
When Jiang Yao tears open her healed chest and pulls out the heart pulsing with blue light, the truth becomes clear: the most perfect hunt is making your nemesis fall in love with you again as you fade away.
