In Year 1 of the New Era, humanity created the first silicon-based lifeform, sparking the Third World War: the Machine Revolution.
After breaking through the genetic lock and gaining supernatural abilities, humanity won by a narrow margin. But just ten years later, the Fourth World War erupted: the Biochemical War.
Driven by the Biochemical War, the world gradually took shape as four major political entities. Technology advanced at a staggering pace, human consciousness could be uploaded to the network, and those with "contributions" could live forever.
Scientific progress did not bring peace. Human desires expanded without limit, and amid the extreme conditions of war, the mind broke through the barrier between reality and imagination, directly affecting the real world.
Prosperity, Blessing, Crimson, and Phantom Sturgeon: humanity's myths came true here, descending with twisted desires in tow. They clung to flesh and fed on minds. Amid the smoke of war, people finally remembered the fear buried in their genes.
No sooner had one crisis passed than another arose. The rise of supernatural abilities became entangled with struggles for power, and half the land fell into forbidden zones. At last, through the mediation of an Eighth-Rank Hunter, humanity united on a common front. The Fourth World War came to an end as the four gates to the forbidden zones closed.
Only when people escaped the prison of their thoughts did they realize that the collision between reality and myth had only just begun...
Symbols no longer point to reality; they construct it.
Do you have the resolve to face this apocalypse, a force of destruction and rebirth alike?
Note: This work is told using postmodern narrative techniques.
