In the seventeenth year of the Chongzhen reign, the Ming dynasty fell, the Qing army marched south, and Jiangnan stood on the brink of disaster.
Li Wenhao, a modern government worker, woke up to find that he had transmigrated into the body of Zhu Yousong, the Hongguang Emperor of the Southern Ming, inheriting a kingdom beset by troubles at home and abroad.
Factional strife cut like knives, warlords prowled like tigers, the treasury was empty, and the people were starving. Being emperor was even more stifling than being a department chief in his previous life!
But he refused to accept his fate. Drawing on ten years of grassroots experience, he took on corrupt ministers, brought warlords to heel, overhauled taxes, and trained a new army. Step by step, he turned the tottering Southern Ming court into a united force.
When Qing cavalry charged, he outmaneuvered them. When powerful Donglin factions rebelled, he crushed them with an iron hand.
From Nanjing to Yangzhou, and from Jiangnan to the Central Plains, he vowed to rewrite the Southern Ming’s story of collapse and restore the glory of the Ming!
Watch Li Wenhao use political cunning and wisdom to build an enduring realm atop the ruins of the fading Ming dynasty!
