In the end, he gets what he wants and successfully marries into the family.
At five, He Nian’an can chop firewood; at ten, he can lift a massive cauldron; and at twelve, he dares to charge into a military camp with a knife, asking, “Uncle, can you get me a permanent post?”
Li Zhiyan worries that He Nian’an will suffer or get hurt in the military camp. Xin Long looks at the carved table leg his child has cracked, the inkstone he has smashed to pieces, and the stone lions he has shifted by the entrance. He can only conclude that he still isn’t acting weakly enough, since his husband still has time to worry about their little force of destruction.
