Like a Dream

[Classical historical setting + devoted one-on-one romance + sweet pampering + love at first sight for the male lead + household intrigue]

A century after the founding of the Su Kingdom, the borders are peaceful and the people live in comfort. In the Qi residence south of the city, the second young lady, Qi Yanxin, lost her mother in childhood and has been frail and sickly ever since. Her stepmother plays favorites, while her father is busy with state affairs, leaving the stepmother in charge of the household. Yanxin is treated coldly within its walls.

Chu Xiao is a brilliant young hero. He follows his father on campaigns, wins one remarkable victory after another, and quickly earns a reputation. He is bold and full of confidence.

One day at a polo match, Chu Xiao gallops across the field, nimble as a swimming dragon, winning the hearts of all the noble young ladies. Only Qi Yanxin stays hidden behind the crowd, dressed simply and elegantly, her gaze cool, as if she were removed from the mortal world. A melody of “High Mountains and Flowing Water” drifts from the strings, graceful and resonant.

As his ribbon flutters and snaps in the wind, the young man cuts a dashing figure. Yet his gaze rests only on the woman in plain clothes, and in that instant, his heart is captured.
