"History of the South", written by Li Yanshou in the Tang Dynasty, is one of the "Twenty-Four Histories" revised by Chinese officials throughout the dynasties. There are eighty volumes of chronicles and biographies in total, including ten volumes of this chronicle and seventy volumes of biographies, starting from the first year of Emperor Wu of the Song Dynasty Liu Yuyong (420) to the third year of Emperor Chen Shubaozhen of the Ming Dynasty (589). It records the 170-year historical events of the Song, Qi, Liang and Chen Kingdoms in the Southern Dynasties. "Southern History" and "Northern History" are sister volumes, compiled by two generations of Master Li and his son Li Yanshou.
