Hidden Ember

When Gu Zheng was six, he brought home Lin Ci, a three-year-old orphan he found by the roadside, and raised her himself.

When tragedy struck his family at fourteen, his mother was left in a vegetative state. The boy shouldered every hardship and protected the little girl as she grew up.

Just as life was starting to get better, Gu Zheng, now twenty-one, was caught in an explosion during a medical experiment.

The whole world said he was dead.

Lin Ci fell into severe depression.

Consumed by longing, she even found a stand-in who looked like him, just to ease the ache.

At twenty-six, a stroke of luck amid misfortune revealed that Gu Zheng hadn’t died. He had simply been unconscious for a long time.

At his bedside, she stayed by the man she loved as he slept, and resumed the path they had left unfinished years ago.

When the young man finally opened his eyes, after all the twists and turns of time, the one who had taken her home would spend the rest of his life by her side.
