1999: Kindling in the Rain

[Reverse: 1999 fanfic + inspired by the Souls series + Lord of the Mysteries + two protagonists + Vertin] [No System]

The First Flame faded, and the torrential rain came pouring down.

No one could ever return to that moment before the millennium. They dissolved along with their era.

A young man was astonished to discover that he had returned to the age before the rain rewound time. A voice spoke to him.

“At the end of the rain curtain, where the tide of the times flows, we stand at the edge of sin, atop the embers of the kindling. We return to the future, to the age that belongs to us, carrying the flame to every dark and narrow crossroads.”

Draw the spiral greatsword, its kindling burning bright, and go pay homage to the ancient circle.

“The First Flame is fading, yet the throne remains unseen.”

He saw the gray-haired girl who ought to have been living a carefree, happy life.

“If you are Vertin, then so be it.”

PS: I'm a Vertin fan. This fanfic has two protagonists: Vertin and the male lead, A Ling. This is my first novel, so I'd be grateful for any suggestions. Updates may be a little slow since the author has studies and work to deal with, but I won't abandon the story. I hope everyone enjoys reading it, especially the old Souls 5ass players who got “tricked” into coming here. Your sun has set.
