The Canyon Within

The writing style of the book is very good, but the content is too inconsistent. If this book were completely set in the United States or Japan, it would be much more realistic. The logic in the book, the characters' behavior patterns and outlook on life, and the social life style are too unrealistic to be imposed on Chinese people. It includes a debate-style court, the police who focus on evidence, and the hierarchical masters and servants. The story takes place in an era without mobile phones, making everything unreal. The intuitive feeling is that an American novel from the 1960s has been reshaped, forcibly placed in China, and blended into the background of Xinjiang and Zhejiang. It is extremely uncomfortable for those who read it.

Very nice to look at.
