Wen Yifan (played by Zhang Ruonan) returns to her hometown for work, where she unexpectedly runs into her high school classmate Sang Yan (played by Bai Jingting). Reunited after years apart, they pretend not to know each other, yet keep running into each other again and again. When a man next door harasses Wen Yifan, she has no choice but to move. Sang Yan’s apartment is also damaged by a fire at a neighbor’s home and needs renovation. By a twist of fate, the two end up sharing a place. Forced together, they break down the barriers between them, and can’t help drawing closer. Sang Yan’s attentive care gradually opens Wen Yifan’s heart, and she finds the courage to pursue him. Sang Yan, in turn, crosses the city to give her the most heartfelt confession, and the two officially become a couple. Later, Wen Yifan finally tells Sang Yan why she broke their agreement and didn’t apply to the same university as him. Heartbroken to learn the truth, Sang Yan vows never to let her get hurt again and protects her through his actions. In the end, the two move into a new home designed by Sang Yan himself and build a happy life together.
