In the Nishan Zoudong area, during the arduous eight years of the War of Resistance, every village and every mountain here was a battlefield against Japan, and heroic and tragic battle stories had occurred.
Here, there is a well-known figure. He is a patron saint in the eyes of the masses, but a "fierce god" in the eyes of the enemy. He is Chen Guangshan, commander of the Second Company of the Nishan Independent Battalion of the Eighth Route Army.
Company Commander Chen Guangshan has a dark face, a tall build, and two thick eyebrows like two brushes. He is highly skilled in martial arts and is good at using a big-bellied box gun. His marksmanship is perfect and his weapons are like a god. Many legends about him are still circulating in Zoudong and Sinan areas: some say he is an "Arhat" who descended to earth, and some say he is a black-faced "King Kong". His comrades affectionately call him "Dog Heizi". The more popular they are, the more legends he has spread. He is a legendary hero who frightens the stubborn Japanese and puppet bandits. His heroic deeds are still being sung in the Nishan and Zoudong areas...
I would like to write this article to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
