Lin Shu finds a child by the river. He plans to raise him as a younger brother and dote on him for the rest of his life. Who could have guessed that their feelings would change along the way, and his little brother would become his wife...? (There will be no romantic feelings between the two kids before they’re adults. Their relationship is purely familial, and underage romance is firmly off-limits.)

In brief: Lin Shu only wanted to give his beloved a safe and peaceful life. He never expected the world to descend into chaos, or that he would eventually become emperor.

Shi Shi only wanted to save lives and heal the wounded, but ended up controlling half the empire and becoming empress: “Big brother’s soft rice is still as delicious as ever...”

A few warnings: 1. This is basically a sweet, light read with a little political intrigue. Xiao Shu will definitely grow a backbone, and Shi Shi will have his own ambitions, too! If you have high expectations for political intrigue, this probably isn’t for you. Please don’t be mad, I’m genuinely afraid people will call me an idiot.

2. The author has a soft spot for scenes where the bottom is frail and fakes his death, leaving the top utterly heartbroken. But I promise there’ll be a sweet happy ending. Please don’t read if that bothers you.

3. The top will give the bottom complete freedom, accept him, and support him, but he can’t accept anyone else in the bottom’s heart, no matter what kind of feelings they have for that person. So later on, there might, possibly, be a little bit of forced romance?
