Songshan Mountain in Henan Province was called Zhongyue in ancient times. It is a lush mountain with various weather conditions. There are two main peaks: one is Taishi and the other is Shaoshi, which is particularly majestic. During the reign of Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty, Zen Master Bodhidharma came from Persia to the east and landed in Panyu, Guangdong. Zhuo Xi was near the Shunmu Bridge at the junction of upper and lower Xiguan in Guangzhou, which was called the Buddha Land from the West. Hearing that Emperor Wu of Liang believed deeply in Buddhism, he went north to Jinling to talk about Zen with Emperor Wu. Unexpectedly, his words were not speculative. Bodhidharma then left in despair, traveled through China, and came to the foot of Shaoshi Peak. He was delighted by its majestic momentum and settled here. He stayed there for nine years and founded the Shaolin Temple. He passed on his Zen and martial arts to his disciples. This was the beginning of the establishment of the Shaolin Temple.
