A Cozy Little Eatery in Town

In the "Fireworks Restaurant in a Small Town" written by Chew Soybeans, there are no legends of ups and downs, only the fireworks life in ordinary days. The protagonist Chen Huaian, a former financial elite who was hit hard by fate, turned around and returned to the small town, picked up a spatula, and continued to write the chapter of life with delicious food. The most touching thing in the book is the homely but affectionate dishes. Braised pork rice carries the memories of three generations, and every grain of rice is soaked with the mellowness of time; plain-cut chicken, fried pork with peppers, simple ingredients are transformed into comforting delicacies in Chen Huaian's hands. These delicacies not only fill the bellies of diners, but also heal their tired souls. The author uses delicate brushstrokes to outline the appearance of the town. The greetings between neighbors and the joys and sorrows of diners are all intertwined with the food. Here, food is the link that connects people with warmth and goodwill. Reading this book is like sitting in a small restaurant, ordering a hot meal, and listening to the gossips of the people around you. It allows us to find a place for our soul to rest in our busy life and re-experience the most authentic taste of life.

I feel hungry when I read it. The exquisite writing style makes me hungry 🤭
